India is the third latest tiles market in the world. While the global tiles production grew at an annualized rate of 6.3% for the period 2006-2013, tiles production in India grew almost double at 12.0% during the same period. Ceramic tiles that accounts for close to 60% of the total tiles demand in India is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.7% for the period 2014-2019. The Indian sanitary ware industry was valued at 700 million USD (approx.) in the year 2016. This was followed by an annual growth of 12.5-15 per cent, thanks to the rise in demand for housing. However, these figures were not as lucrative in the past decade due to the market being restricted to urban areas, low replacement demand and small bathroom sizes, and of course, the dominance of the unorganised sector. In terms of market share, the organised sector has dominated the industry, whereas, in terms of volume the unorganised players ruled the industry.
